The RX units mounts onto the camera ‘cold shoe’or can be attached on a steadicam, crane or jib. The transmitter is mains powered and is positioned within range of the receivers and connected to the vision mixer by 9 pin data cables. When a camera is selected on the preview bus, a green preview light is visible on the rear of the receiver and the rear of the top finder if fitted. This indicator is clearly visible to both the camera operator and the subject/presenter.
Tally technologies code#
Each time the vision operator selects a camera on the program bus a code is transmitted to the corresponding receiver, which in turn illuminates a red tally light on the front and the rear of the receiver. Each camera used in a live multi camera scenario is fitted with a wireless receiver and the transmitter is connected to the vision mixer. The RX units are charged by the TX power supply. The system consists of a Transmitter (TX), an external power supply that also doubles as a charger for the receivers, together with a maximum of sixty four rechargeable Receiver (RX) modules. With TallyHo, they know they are in ‘preview’ mode, or ‘live’ mode from the LED indicators.
TallyHo is a wireless tally system, with a range of up to 250m, enabling camera operators and presenters not only the freedom to move from location to location in a Live broadcast environment, but also in noisy locations, such as a concert where it is often extremely difficult for camera operators to hear the Director through the radio communications system.
